Winter cleaning checklist for offices and receptions

Wet weather brings dirt and water into buildings, and slips at entrances rise in winter. A few changes to the cleaning schedule from November to March make a noticeable difference.

Entrances

  • Make sure entrance matting is long enough for several steps, and clean or swap it more often
  • Add mid-morning and mid-afternoon checks to mop and dry entrance floors
  • Keep wet floor signs at reception and use them

Floors throughout

  • Vacuum walkways more often to remove grit before it wears carpets
  • Schedule encapsulation or extraction for main routes in late winter

Heating and air

  • Dust radiators and heating vents before the heating season
  • Clean extractor grilles in washrooms and kitchens

Touchpoints and washrooms

Winter brings more coughs and colds. Extra attention to door handles, lift buttons and washrooms during busy periods helps, alongside good hand-washing facilities.
