1. It smells
Odours usually come from urine around and behind urinals and toilet bases, or dry drain traps. Daily cleaning of these areas and regular descaling fix most cases. Running water in little-used basins keeps traps filled.
2. Something has run out
Restock on every visit and add a midday check in busy buildings. Larger dispensers reduce the risk of running out.
3. The floor is wet
Use a well-wrung mop, clean in sections and put signs out. Persistent wet floors can mean a leak that needs reporting.
4. It looks dirty even after cleaning
Limescale and stained grout make a washroom look dirty however recently it was cleaned. Weekly descaling and periodic grout cleaning help.
5. Nobody knows when it was cleaned
A visible cleaning log on the door shows users that the washroom is looked after.
Use our washroom cleaning checklist to check your schedule covers each of these.
