What it is
Microfibre is made from very fine synthetic fibres, usually a blend of polyester and polyamide. The fibres are much finer than cotton, so a cloth has a far larger surface area to trap dirt.
Why it cleans better
The fine fibres lift and hold dust, grease and dirt instead of pushing it around. Many tasks need only water, or much less chemical than with a cotton cloth.
Why it is greener
Less chemical and less water per task, and cloths that last for hundreds of washes, reduce both cost and environmental impact.
Looking after it
- Wash separately by colour code
- Avoid fabric softener, which clogs the fibres
- Follow the manufacturer's maximum wash temperature
