Warehouse and industrial unit cleaning checklist

Warehouses mix large open floors, offices, welfare facilities and vehicle traffic. A good cleaning plan treats each zone differently and works around shifts and forklift movements.

Daily

  • Clean toilets, showers and changing rooms
  • Clean canteens and break rooms
  • Empty bins and keep waste areas tidy
  • Clean warehouse offices
  • Sweep or scrub pedestrian walkways and high-traffic aisles

Weekly

  • Machine-scrub main floor areas with a scrubber-dryer
  • Clean loading bay areas and dock levellers' surroundings
  • Wipe handrails, doors and touchpoints throughout
  • Clean vending and water points

Periodic

  • High-level dusting of racking, beams and lights, by trained operatives using suitable access equipment
  • Deep clean of welfare facilities

Working safely around vehicles

Cleaning should follow the site's traffic management plan. Agree when aisles can be closed, use barriers and signs, and make sure cleaners wear high-visibility clothing and are inducted on site rules.

Floors

Large sealed concrete or resin floors are cleaned most efficiently with ride-on or walk-behind scrubber-dryers. See commercial hard floor care.
